I had to go out of town for work for a couple of days this week. While I was gone the contractor came in and finished cross fencing our little patch of pasture. This will help us do better with keeping enough grass to feed all of the animals this summer, although I'm not so sure that I will be able to get away without buying some hay since we also have Matt the Jerk's steer on the property too. But I digress.
Missy and Zenon were mostly unperturbed by the adjustment in their perimeter and the sudden appearance of hot tape around the pasture, Baby was slightly more hysterical. She has been doing a lot of running back and forth and snorting since the installation. The evening the fence was completed, J was trying to feed the horses and Baby got spooked inside the barn. She bolted for the nearest exit, which also happened to be the stall door my husband was entering. I'm not sure if he realized he should move or just didn't have time; regardless, she pretty well mowed him down. He's currently ensconced on the couch with a two-day pass from work and a prescription for percocet.
On the plus side, the Tri-Cities hit 70 degrees today and I think it will still be light enough when I get home to ride a little. Yay for Nearly Spring!
